Investors would be forgiven for being confused by the messages coming from the Chinese government this week. Don’t worry, the authorities are probably a little confused too. On Monday, as Chinese stocks logged their best day since 2015, China Banking and Insurance Regulatory Commission officials said that though there was more work to do, the country’s structural deleveraging goals had been reached.
