As Christians around the globe prepare to celebrate the birth of Jesus on Christmas, Christians in China are enduring a new and heightened wave of persecution. It’s not surprising that the Chinese government is ramping up its efforts ahead of Christmas. The U.S. government last week announced that China is among the 10 worst violators of religious freedom in the world. It was once again designated as a country of particular concern—a title it has held since the inaugural International Religious Freedom report released annually by the International Religious Freedom Office at the State Department. They are a reminder that the religious freedom we enjoy in the U.S.—regardless of faith or creed—is something to be deeply grateful for.
