China fires back at Trump trade threat over North Korea

BEIJING - China's Foreign Ministry on Monday criticized US President Donald Trump's comment about the United States considering stopping trade with countries that do business with North Korea. Trump's call for so-called secondary sanctions could have an outsized impact on China, which Trump has urged to do more to pressure North Korea. US Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin said the US was preparing new sanctions to further isolate North Korea, including actions against North Korea's trading partners. "North Korea is a rogue nation which has become a great threat and embarrasment to China, which is trying to help but with little success," Trump tweeted on Sunday. If China cut off oil supplies to North Korea it would put enormous pressure on Kim's regime, he said.
