China donates $147,000 to restore ‘peace’ in Rakhine


China has provided $147,058 (2 million kyats) donation to Myanmar to restore “peace” in the country’s Rakhine state, reports the Xinhua News Agency. At the donation ceremony, Chinese Ambassador to Myanmar Hong Liang said the aid would be useful in restoring peace and stability in Rakhine. China will continue to assist the Myanmar government in carrying out the peace process in Rakhine to strengthen the fraternal relationship between the two nations, reports the Global Times. Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with his Indonesian counterpart Retno Marsudi on Tuesday and discussed the bilateral relations and the situation in Rakhine, according to Xinhua. China is willing to work with the international community to continue to play a constructive role, Wang added.
