Zhang Shiping, the billionaire founder and former chairman of Shandong Weiqiao Pioneering Group, died on Thursday at age 73. Zhang's two Hong Kong-listed companies, China Hongqiao Group and Weiqiao Textile, announced his death yesterday evening. Hongqiao is one of the world's largest producers of aluminum products; Weiqiao Textile is one of China's largest makers of cotton textiles. Zhang's daughter Zhang Hongxia chairs Weiqiao Textile; another daughter, Zhang Yanhong, is its vice chairman. Shandong Weiqiao Pioneering is headquartered in China’s eastern Shandong Province.
