After months of tough talk from President Trump on trade, China and Europe are sending a clear message to the United States: we don’t need you anymore. China signed a huge, $23 billion deal with the European plane manufacturer Airbus Industrie in Berlin on Wednesday. The deal calls for Europe to sell China 140 planes. In another development that signals separation from the United States, Europe agreed to a major trade deal with Japan on Thursday. Negotiations for the deal began immediately after Trump canceled the Transpacific Trade Agreement that former President Barack Obama had negotiated.
