Dense fog shrouded the national capital on Thursday with visibility dropping to less than 50 metres. Over a dozen flights and trains were delayed even as the minimum temperature for the day plummeted to 5 degrees Celsius, two notches below the season’s average. “This was the lowest minimum temperature recorded in January so far this season. Due to dense fog the visibility came down to 50m at Safdarjung at 8.30am while it was less than 50m at Palam,” an official at India Meteorological Department said. Dense fog will occur on Friday morning while shallow fog will prevail during the day,” the MeT office said.
