“The pandemic had a great impact on everyone and the most affected ones are the children. Anxiety, depression, sexual abuse, speech and language disorders and the likes were some of the impacts of the pandemic on children. Panellists reiterated the need for language and speech communication to be made a priority since it will help the children make up for the period they stayed home. They said, children get to learn more when they are being talked to but the pandemic stalled that opportunity for the children and this could affect the way the children talk. They called on the need for government to employ more speech and language therapists in various hospitals and in schools to help address the gap in speech and language communication in the country especially among children.
