A young girl is being airlifted to Dunedin Hospital in a critical condition after being hit by a car at Jack's Point, near Queenstown. A police spokeswoman said police were called to Jack's Point Rise at 11.15am, after reports of a person being hit by a vehicle. Police confirmed the pedestrian was a child, but could not confirm her age. The serious crash unit had been advised and will examine the scene. A St John spokesman confirmed a female with critical injuries was being flown to Dunedin Hospital.
