The dead passengers have been identified as Monirul Islam and ‘Poppy’, a 12-year-old, said Jatrabari Police Sub-Inspector of Abul Kalam. At least 12 more people have been injured in the incident from Saddam Market area on Dhaka-Chittagong highway around 6:30am, he said. “The Ekushey Dream transport bus was headed from Dhaka to Noakhali. It hit a tree after veering off the road while trying to evade an auto-rickshaw,” said SI Kalam. Traffic on the highway was halted for some time but it resumed soon after the overturned bus was removed, he added.
