Chikungunya strikes fishing community in Chittagong’s Sitakunda


Nearly 100 people of different ages in a fishing community have been diagnosed with Chikungunya disease under Sitakunda upazila of Chittagong. Dr Azizur Rahman Siddiqui, civil surgeon of Chittagong, also told the Dhaka Tribune that a total of 95 people, including children and elderly people, were diagnosed with Chikungunya symptoms over the last two days. However, we will collect blood samples from all patients suffering from high fever and run tests for confirmation,” he said. He added that three teams were already formed to provide the community with necessary medical services. We have already distributed 100 mosquito nets and medicines among the affected people of the area,” he said.
