Singh, who had worked for Abu Dhabi Cricket for 15 years, died a few hours before the game was scheduled to start last night. An International Cricket Council (ICC) statement said the cause of his death "remains unknown''. It stated that the game – won by the Black Caps by eight wickets – went ahead "at the request of Abu Dhabi Cricket, the ground staff and Mohan's family". In a tribute, Abu Dhabi Cricket said: "Mohan has been with Abu Dhabi Cricket for 15 years and has played a pivotal role in all of the venue's success during that time. Mohan Singh had worked with BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) chief curator Daljit Singh in Mohali before moving to the United Arab Emirates in the early 2000s.
