more-inChief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami on Friday congratulated the six Padma awardees from the State. Mr. Palaniswami congratulated Ilaiyaraja on being conferred the Padma Vibhushan and said he was a leading music director in multiple languages. The Chief Minister also congratulated Ramachandran Nagaswamy on his Padma Bhushan and said his archaeological work had brought him accolades from all corners. Mr. Palaniswami recalled that V. Nanammal, who has been awarded the Padma Shri, had practised yoga from a young age, eventually training 600 instructors. He also congratulated the other Padma Shri awardees: Rajagopalan Vasudevan, professor at Thiagarajar College, Madurai who patented the reuse of plastic waste for road construction; Vijayalakshmi Navaneethakrishnan, famed folk music exponent; and Romulus Whitaker, herpetologist and wildlife conservationist.
