PETALING JAYA: Traders have taken advantage of the festive pe­­riod to increase the price of chic­ken, raising it over the ceiling pri­ces allowed. For live chicken, the price has increased from RM5.70 to RM6.40 (ceiling price set at RM6). Chicken seller Wong Hen Seng, 43, said he had no choice but to increase prices due to higher rates charged by his supplier. “They will take advantage to increase prices to earn maximum profit,” he added. “We will try to absorb the price increase instead of passing it on to customers,” he added.
