Fire damages old market in LamphunBy The NationPicture: Siam RathA fire swept through an old market in Lamphun’s Muang district on Wednesday night. Over 30 fire engines and more than 200 firefighters took about two hours to control the blaze at the Nong Dok Market after the fire broke out at 11.56pm. While firefighters were fighting the blaze, explosions were heard from the fireworks shop. Local residents said the market was over 100 years old and it is a popular tourist destination. The market is divided into many zones and has various goods, including fresh food and farm products and consumer goods.
