Banaripara upazila BCL unit president Sumon Hossen Molla confessed to raping a newlywed bride after detaining her husband. He was produced before the additional chief judicial magistrate court led by Magistrate Shihabul where the confessional statement was recorded. Police arrested Sumon, president of Banaripara upazila Chhatra League, on Sunday from Kalibari road in Barisal for allegedly raping a newly married bride on July 15. When the extortion demand was refused, the Chhatra League thugs retaliated with rape.
