Chemical spill in South Auckland after truck rollsSam Sword/STUFF.CO.NZFirefighters have dammed the flow of a hazardous chemical which was spilling into waterways after a tanker crash in south Auckland. The accident happened on the intersection of Wiri Station road and Roscommon Road in Manukau on Sunday about 8.30am. The Fire Service said a hazardous substance, leachate had leaked into the waterways before they were able to dam the flow. A sucker truck was removing the rest of the leachate from inside the tanker, which was lying on its side after the accident. The driver of the truck was briefly trapped, but has been freed by emergency services.
