Agriculture Principal Secretary John Mosonik Friday made the announcement after a five-hour meeting with stakeholders at the company premises in Muhoroni, Kisumu County. Head of Agriculture at Sony Sugar Company Gabriel Nyangweso will take charge of the Chemelil firm during this period, in which the PS will make drastic changes in the company's management structure to make it function effectively. Mosonik said the action was taken after a wide consultation with stakeholders in a bid to rescue the sugarmiller from possible collapse. Farmers' representative Atyang Atyang said the company owes them over Sh200 million, with some arrears dating back to 2014.
