However, Maatsen was keen to remain at Stamford Bridge to stake his claim for a starting spot. However, Maatsen has been limited to just three starts this season and two of those came in the Carabao Cup. During Maatsen’s 15 appearances in all competitions, he has mainly played on the flank and away from his preferred left-back position.
