Alonso was criticised by Neville (Picture: Getty)Frank Lampard has hit back at Gary Neville for his scathing assessment of Marcos Alonso during Chelsea’s 3-2 defeat to West Ham. Neville fumed with the full-back for a relaxed approach to tracking back and blamed Alonso for allowing Andriy Yarmolenko to score a late winner for West Ham on the break. Lampard, who was critical of his players after the loss, defended Alonso and branded Neville’s critique of the Spaniard unfair. ‘[Full-backs] have a responsibility to do both (attack and defend) and that’s important,’ Lampard said ahead of Chelsea’s game against Watford.
