Chelsea are reportedly ready to reward veteran defender Thiago Silva with a new-one year deal after playing a pivotal role in their success this season. The 36-year-old arrived on a free transfer from PSG last summer under Frank Lampard, and was written-off as being too old to thrive in the Premier League. According to the Sun, Blues boss Thomas Tuchel will offer the centre-back a new one-year contract. After Saturday's final Silva paid tribute to Lampard, who guided the Blues through the Champions League group stages this season before losing his job in January. Silva was a rock-solid presence at the back for the period he was on the field on Saturday night'It was special, it was my first year here,' Silva added.
