Cheat sheet: How New Zealand's health system is changing


Health minister Andrew Little goes through the detail on the imminent health system reforms, and whether the budget spending will reach where it is needed. Robyn Edie/Stuff In just a couple of weeks’ time, New Zealand’s health system will change. Under the new model, Health NZ will manage all health services, including hospital and specialist services, and primary and community care. Then, new locality networks will provide advice to Health NZ and the Māori Health Authority on the health needs, to be identified by their communities. Frontline health staff currently working for DHBs, Public Health Units and shared service agencies will move to work for Health NZ from mid-2022.
