One of the victims Anwar, 55, died around 10:55pm on Monday at the Burn Unit and Plastic Surgery Department of the hospital; while Sohag died around 1am, on Tuesday, in the same department. Confirming the matter to the Dhaka Tribune, DMCH Resident Physician Dr Partha Shankar Pal said the death toll of the Chawkbazar fire disaster stands at 69 victims. There are seven more victims undergoing treatment at the DMCH burn unit, and the condition of some of them is critical. On the night of February 20, 67 people were killed—and 41 others injured—in the devastating fire that raged through several buildings on Nandakumar Duta Road and Churihatta Shahi Mosque Road, of Chawkbazar.
