The Charities Regulator imposed intermediate sanctions on The Good and New cancer charity based in Letterkenny, Co Donegal yesterday after a site visit showed it was not meeting a legal obligation to keep proper books of accounts. It has until March 26 to rectify the contravention or face prosecution which could result in a fine of up to €300,000 or imprisonment of up to ten years for any trustee found guilty. The regulator’s action was sparked by an investigation in The Sunday Times that found Good and New had not kept till receipts in its charity…
