The news programme asked Ms Siddiq whether she could intervene because her aunt is the Prime Minister of Bangladesh. But in a heated exchange, Ms Siddiq replied reporter Alex Thomson should "be very careful what you're saying", adding she was a British MP and he was not a constituent. He added that Ms Siddiq had complained to police about the encounter, but did not give further details. The Mirror contacted Ms Siddiq tonight asking about her remark, and the apparent police complaint, but did not immediately receive a reply. Ms Siddiq was fighting for Britain's most marginal seat before she became MP for Hampstead and Kilburn in north London in 2015.
