Uber suspends self-driving pilot programme after crashAn incident involving one of the vehicles in its fleet of self-driving SUVs has caused Uber to suspend its pilot programme. The accident, which occurred in Arizona (one of the US states with lenient rules for self-driving vehicles) caused the Volvo SUV to topple onto its side. The incident was reportedly caused by the driver of the other car involved in the collision, failing to yield when the SUV had right of way. However, the company has suspended the programme regardless, as a precaution. Last year, a similar incident occurred when the driver of a self-driving Tesla Model S left it in autopilot mode, leading the car to crash into a trailer when it did not recognise the unmarked side of the vehicle as an obstacle.
