BENTONG: Datuk Lau Hoi Keong says that his address – which shows that he stays in Pahang – is only reflected in the chip in his MyKad, which was not changed when he registered his new address last year. At the nomination centre here on Saturday morning, DAP candidates challenged Lau to show his MyKad to prove that he had a local address. When Lau ignored their demand, a commotion ensued, with the DAP candidates and supporters crying foul over Lau's eligibility. According to information available on the National Registration Department website, updating the address without changing the MyKad is possible, at a reduced fee of RM2. A change of address requiring the issuance of a new MyKad costs RM10.
