Tomas (UST) head coach just got tougher when 1996 Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) best import Sean Chambers entered the area. Chambers told The Manila Times on Monday via an online message that he applied for the vacant position when former head coach Aldin Ayo bowed out. He served as the main weapon of former Alaska head coach Tim Cone for capturing the 1996 grand slam, winning the All-Filipino, the Commissioner’s Cup and the Governors’ Cup titles. Former Columbian Dyip head coach and current Rain or Shine assistant coach Chris Gavina, a non-UST graduate, also applied for the position. Ayo vacated the post when UST implicated him in the allegedly unauthorized training facility, called the “Sorsogon bubble.”
