CervicalCheck: Overseas labs found to alleviate record 33 week delays

Additional laboratories overseas have been found to process Irish women’s tests under the CervicalCheck programme and alleviate delays, now standing at a record level of up to 33 weeks. Almost 350,000 screening tests were carried out during last year. There are usually about 250,000 cervical screening tests each year. Meanwhile Tánaiste Simon Coveney told the Dáil on Tuesday about the additional testing capacity. Fianna Fail TD Lisa Chambers claimed the delays meant women in rural Ireland were waiting longer than other women.
