Tourism NZ marketing director Andrew Fraser said the 25% of international visitors visiting a vineyard or winery increased to 42% for those who visited to cycle or golf. Tourism NZ and NZ Winegrowers worked with industry representatives and digital specialists to produce new interactive online tools to help the wine industry grow the value of their tourism business. "We’ve always done wine tourism well but we’re taking that up a notch." Wine tourism numbers were expected to increase as a result of of the initiative, he said.
