"The yuan was maybe overvalued for the last three or four years... it's come to a turning point. This should be corrected," Fan said. "If the yuan depreciates too much, China can step up capital controls. We have a large amount of foreign exchange reserves, and ultimately, we have a bottom line. I believe the scale of the depreciation is not limitless; we can completely control it," Yu said.
