Still, the Census and Statistics Department will be able to use more technology, such as creating encrypted surveys and developing a computer system so census-takers can enter updated data immediately. Taking various needs into account, Chan said census takers will have to conduct interviews with citizens in person. Chan also encouraged citizens to support and respond to the needs required in interviews being carried out by the Census and Statistics Department during next year's large-scale information gathering effort.
