CEBU City: Since sporting events and mass gatherings are still prohibited amid the threat of Covid-19, the arnis (Philippine martial art) community here turned to technology for the first Cebu City Arnis Junior Olympics. Organized by the Doce Pares headquarters and the Cebu City Sports Commission (CCSC), the first online anyo (form) competition was held via Zoom and livestreamed on Facebook last August 22. “It was our first online tournament and also the first time for the arnis competition to be aired live. So, between then and now, we will just have to stay with online training and competition,” he said. “We will continue to support this online tournament since it’s our passion for the Filipino martial art.”Aside from arnis, CCCS holds online competitions for dancesport, scrabble and athletics.
