Cavalry FC players are alleging racist remarks were hurled their way during the fireworks that capped Tuesday night’s 1-1 draw with host Forge FC in Hamilton. An unconfirmed report says the Cavs were primarily incensed by abusive words from a Forge FC assistant coach. “There’s no place in the game for racism, whatever the circumstances,” tweeted Cavalry FC midfielder Elijah Adekugbe (@elijahadekugbe). “Hopefully the right call gets made.”As the two teams tangled post-game in Leg 1 of the second-round Canadian Championship series, fans apparently got in on the action — at least verbally — as well. The Cavs and the Forge meet for Leg 2 of the Canadian Championship challenge — also known as the Battle of the North — next Tuesday at Spruce Meadows’ ATCO Field (7:30 p.m.).
