Karnataka and Tamil Nadu were asked to maintain peace and harmony in the respective states. The apex court on Tuesday directed Karnataka to release 2,000 cusecs of Cauvery water per day to Tamil Nadu till further orders, however the hearing of the case will continue on Wednesday. The panel said that both Karnataka and Tamil Nadu were facing water shortage, creating unemployment and financial hardship for the people. The Supreme Court on Tuesday asked Karnataka and Tamil Nadu governments to maintain peace and harmony in the respective states. Meanwhile, the delta farmers in Tamil Nadu resorted to rail rook agitation on Monday urging the government to set up Cauvery management board.
