Cause of Mossburn's huge fire yet to be determined

Mossburn deputy fire chief David Stalker, left, and Dunedin fire investigator Mark Bredenbeck walk through the charred remains of the Mossburn Diner on Saturday. The cause of a fire that destroyed the Mossburn Diner on Friday night won’t be known for a few days, the town’s deputy fire chief, David Stalker, says. He and Dunedin fire investigator Mark Brendenbeck spent several hours examining the charred remains on Saturday, and met with the diner’s owner, William Wook Kweon. A short time later he heard cracking and banging and noticed a bright glow on his bathroom window. He and Stalker said the loss of the diner was a big blow to the town.
