The first underwater images of True's beaked whales show a cohesive group of three adult or subadult whales swimming together. One species, the True's beaked whale, is so rare that only a handful of people have ever seen it alive. “I thought, 'My god, these are True's beaked whales.' Aguilar de Soto, the lead author, says it's one of the most comprehensive surveys of scientific knowledge about True's beaked whales. It will take more research and genetic analysis to determine whether True's beaked whales are in danger because of human activity.
