A Bangladeshi cattle trader has allegedly been tortured to death by Indian Border Security Force personnel on Wednesday. Fellow cattle traders rescued him lying down in critical condition Bangladesh-India border near Mastarbari border area in Lalmonirhat’s Patgram early hours Wednesday, said Manik Hossain, a member of the Jengra union parishad under Patgram upazila. Major Muniruzzaman, acting director of battalion-6 of Border Guard Bangladesh’s (BGB), confirms union parishad member Manik’s version of the event. BGB was investigating whether Rashidul was tortured to death by the BSF, said Major Muniruzzaman, adding a letter has already been sent to the respective BSF unit condemning the incident. Patgram police has already assumed the custody of the body and sent it to the RMCH hospital morgue for autopsy.
