At a time when the entire nation is dealing with cash crunch , a folk singer was showered with new Rs 2000 notes while performing in Palanpur area of Gujarat 's Banaskantha district.At an event organised by Mukteshwar Mahadev Temple , audience showered new pink notes on folk singer Kirtidan Gadhvi during a 'dayara' programme in Palanpur.In a half a minute video, shared on social media, Gadhvi said,"People stand in long queues for hours to get new currency but look, here it is raining. Demonetisation cannot keep people away from spending money on religion. ""Showering notes is a tradition in dayaro, a traditional Gujarati folk performance, and the purpose behind this is purely devotional. The money we collect in dayaras are spent on social work only," Gadhvi added.The singer also praised Gujarat for sending crores of rupees in different parts of the country for charity. "Whenever it comes to religion and charity, people of Gujarat always stand first," he said in the video.Interestingly, the video was shared by the folk singer himself on his Facebook timeline.
