Case filed against Shomi Kaiser for calling journalists 'thieves'

Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate, Assaduzzaman Nur, has ordered Ramna police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) to submit a probe report on the complaint against Shomi, by June 16. Shomi Kaiser, also the president of e-Commerce Association of Bangladesh (e-CAB), lost her two cell phones during an event at the National Press Club, where she was giving a speech. Right after that incident, her security guards locked the gate and searched all the journalists and guests there-present. At one stage, Shomi reportedly labeled the reporters “thieves” which sparked strong criticism and condemnation from the journalists present there.
