This case of journalist suppression tops the April list of “10 Most Urgent” press freedom cases, released today by the One Free Press Coalition. This 26th monthly edition focuses on cases of journalists who have faced retaliation in relation to posts online and on social media. Social media platforms provide one of the only spaces for journalists to be heard in repressive media environments. Besides the threat of censorship, online harassment and arrest, CPJ tracks the threat of sophisticated spyware attacks from state actors. Currently free, she still faces charges and has experienced continual judicial harassment.
