Carnival cruises to return by August

Carnival Cruise Line has announced plans to resume some of its cruise trips from North America in August as it tries to recover from the Covid-19 pandemic, which has brought the cruise industry to a virtual standstill. The company said it planned to resume cruises on eight ships on August 1, while operations in all other North American and Australian markets would remain suspended until August 31. Three of its ships will set sail from Galveston, Texas, while another three will sail from Miami, Florida, and the other two set to sail from Port Canaveral, Florida. Discounts for the cruises are as high as 90 percent. Its major competitor, Royal Caribbean, has yet to confirm when it will resume cruise services, as Norwegian Cruise Line hopes to restart cruises in July.
