T he team behind Berber & Q and its Exmouth Market sister Shawarma bar say they are “coming of age” as they announce plans for a new London restaurant, set to open in early October. The Katz brothers, Josh and Paul, and Mattia Bianchi, will open Carmel on Lonsdale Road in Queen’s Park, promising an all-day menu and a 60-strong wine list. Similarly to Berber, the food will draw on influences from north Africa and the eastern Mediterranean, much of it cooked in a wood-fired oven. “I think people might think of this as a more grown-up version of what we’ve done to date, dare I say a coming of age.
