For the fourth time, Japanese prosecutors extended former Nissan chairman Carlos Ghosn’s detention for 10 more days as the authorities continue to build a case against the fallen executive. The indictment of Nissan in mid-December in relation to Ghosn’s income under-reporting has also raised questions about Nissan’s corporate governance over the past decade. Nissan said it “was not in a position to comment” on Ghosn’s extended detention due to its own indictments and ongoing court case. Since Ghosn’s arrest, prosecutors have extended his detention multiple times by rearresting him over new allegations. On January 11, the expected day of his next bail hearing, will prosecutors find more charges to keep him in jail, or will he finally be released?
