One in 20 people in Ireland is a family carer, providing up to €10 billion in unpaid care each year. “We host these awards to recognise the huge contribution of our family carers and young carers. Her family describe her as an amazing woman who always puts others first and has a very positive outlook on life. It’s not easy, it’s really not easy.”She emphasises how lonely it can be being a family carer. “I appeal to the Government to not exploit family carers, and not to exploit a labour of love.”
