Carcinogen-free rashers could help save your bacon

Naked Bacon will be available from next month PAThe traditional English breakfast is set to become healthier as scientists have developed bacon that is free of chemicals that cause cancer. Bacon produced without adding potentially harmful nitrites during the curing process will be available in supermarkets from next month. The World Health Organisation (WHO) has said that adding nitrites increases the risk of bowel cancer. Naked Bacon, produced by the Northern Ireland company Finnebrogue, uses natural fruit and spice extracts in the curing process. The company will make an own-brand bacon for Marks & Spencer.
