Paramedics transported 18 people to hospital after high levels of carbon monoxide were detected at a Mandarin restaurant in Scarborough. Paramedics responded to the call shortly after 3 p.m. at the Eglinton Ave. and Birchmount Rd. Toronto Fire Services says the amount of carbon monoxide in the air was extremely high in the back of the restaurant with levels registering at 500 parts per million. “At 100 parts per million, you’ll feel a headache after one or two hours,” said Capt. “At 400, you’d feel headache and nausea after one hour, and it would be life threatening at three hours.”
