The bakery is poised to sell its first vegan sandwiches this year, though it admitted yesterday it had yet to devise a sufficiently tasty vegan sausage roll to stock in its growing chain of shops. Roger Whiteside, chief executive, said that the company would provide shelf space to vegan items only if they were “so tasty they also appeal to non-vegans”.
