SIBU: A car washer has been detained for assaulting and raping an underage girl, said Sibu OCPD Asst Comm Zailanni Amit. ACP Zailanni said that the suspect is a distant relative of the girl and he got to know her last January. He said the case came to light when the victim sought treatment at the hospital on Dec 12 for bodily injuries inflicted by the suspect. The police arrested him on Dec 20 and he was remanded for four days until Dec 27 to assist investigation for the assault. "However the girl later confided to doctors treating her injuries that the suspect had also raped her from December 2016 and the last time was on Dec 19," he added.
