A car hurtled into the back of a parked vehicle in Guinness St, Timaru, then smashed into a tree on Thursday afternoon. Andee Gainsford had a surprise on Thursday afternoon when the vehicle outside his Timaru home was smashed by another vehicle. He was alerted to the crash about 4.30pm when members of the public ran down his drive in Guinness St to alert him that his parked Subaru Impreza 1997 had been damaged. He understood after striking the Subaru, the vehicle hurtled into a tree, smashing it, before ending up tipped on its side. A NZ Fire and Emergency spokeswoman said two appliances from Washdyke and Timaru attended the crash, as well as police and an ambulance.
